LARGE ACTION – OF ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

Sunny day and even more powerful motive to take part in action of spring cleaning and arranging of Memorial Complex of park “Bubanj”, under the motto “I am 7th May on Bubanj, and you?” gathered previous weekend in Nis, on the same task, over 1500 citizens – volunteers, students, soldiers, employees of local administrations and public institutions of City of Nis. At the invitation of the host, President of City Municipality of Palilula Professor Dr Igor Novakovic, action supported City of Nis but and Ministry of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning, Military of Serbia. In early morning hours, in Memorial “Three Fists” on the Bubanj, came and Mayor of Nis Mr Milos Simonovic, President of City Municipality of Medijana, Dragoslav Cirkovic, Director of campaign Clean up the Serbia Milan Kindjic.

According to Boban Mikic, member of Council of City Municipality of Palilula and local coordinator, goal of this action, which is beginning of new cycle of national campaign “Clean up the Serbia” and world`s ecological campaign “Clean up the World 2011”, is removing garbage and arranging green surfaces in Memorial Park “Bubanj”. Organizers of this action, employees of Administration of City Municipality of Palilula and consortium of organizations of civil society, prepared everything that this massive action be successful organized. Beside necessary equipment, tools, bags, gloves, friends of action provided for all participants drinks and sandwiches.

Activity  started with cross of students of elementary school “Desanka Maksimovic” – Cokot,  who with their teachers on the best way promoted potentials of park “Bubanj” for sport – recreational activities of the citizens. Then on the scene of arranging of space entered volunteers. Between them and employees in Municipal Administration of Palilula, members of Assembly, members of Citizen`s Council, neighbors, colleagues from other city municipalities. Presidents Novakovic, Cirkovic, Djurdjevic with Mayor Simonovic inspect and clean space round Summer Stage. Director of national campaign Milan Kindjic with President of the Council for Environment of City of Nis, Sonja Popovic visit participants of action. There are and representatives of media.

“Memorial Park “Bubanj” is second largest execution from Second World War in Serbia and under protection of the state. “Bubanj” is the closer resort of people from Nis and all of them like their city and want to enjoy in clean environment can to prove that. We expect that with this action encourage responsible to finally include park “Bubanj” in program of regular maintenance, because this space deserve bigger care of society – highlighted in the meeting with representatives of media Dr Igor Novakovic, president of Municipality. Palilula is in the process of obtaining grant from program of neighbourhood cooperation Bulgaria – Serbia, financed by European Union. According to Novakovic positively solution would practically provided realization of project of detail arranging of Memorial Park “Bubanj” and precipitated permanent solution of this question. “After all, if it is not do that, and this park doesn’t protect from vandals, said President Novakovic, we will have destroyed objects, green surfaces covered with garbage, Memorials written by graffiti.

Action of arranging of “Bubanj”, this May 7th gathered and members of Green Network of City of Nis, media EKOpolis Network – promoters of worlds ecological campaign “Clean up the World”, Voluntary Center, members of association “My Bubanj”, ZOO Planet, PULS, Scout Association of City of Nis, Students Parliament, Association Become Green and You, Green Key, Count, Sure Step, members of organization MNRO, Citizens Council of Local Office Bubanj, Office for Youth of Palilula Municipality, members of Military of Serbia, Equestrian club “Nonius”, PUE Mediana, PUE Gorica, PUE Naissus, PUE Toplana, Railways of Serbia. Special interesting shown students and teachers from elementary schools: “Kralj Petar Prvi”, “Radoje Domanovic”, “Bubanjski heroji”, gymnasium “Svetozar Markovic”, High Technical School ,donors.
